Collaboration for new sports facilities

The Rangitikei Sports Turf Development is a collaboration between Rangitikei College and Nga Tawa Diocesan School that will provide a multi sports playing facility and a full sized international water hockey turf for the Rangitikei community to use.
We believe our combined turf development projects will
  • Help schools, clubs and families throughout Rangitikei to keep our young people fit, healthy and ready to learn
  • Provide appropriate facilities for sports development from beginner through to elite
  • Retain and attract more students to local schools
  • Generate more local business by attracting visitors to Marton for sports fixtures.
We encourage you to use this website to find out more about our turf development projects and how you can support them.

Our Supporters

“We are delighted to be in a partnership that brings so much to the Rangitikei community. Having quality facilities provides opportunities for the whole community especially our young people.

Secondary Schools are a massive part of the community and as such it is fantastic that they are looking outside their own needs to provide facilities that can be utilised by the district at large and not just their own student populations.

With the support of the Rangitikei District Council, these projects can be realised sooner rather than later and the end result will be two sports surfaces that are far superior to the previous Centennial park turf.”

Rangitikei Hockey Association

We applaud Rangitikei College and Nga Tawa’s intents to provide sports resources for wider community.  The development of 2 purposeful turfs will be used by all of our hockey players from the young on half a turf to the opportunity to host regional representative tournaments.  The turfs will provide new opportunities for our hockey playing community, it is very exciting.  We fully support and commend the initiative.

Anne Abraham, President, Rangitikei Hockey Association.
